A standard "well-posedness" theorem for Ordinary Differential Equations, from Coddington and Levinson, Theory of Ordinary Differential Equations, Krieger Publishing, Malabar, Florida, 1984. Think of μ as a parameter determining data in the equation (for example, acceleration due to gravity).
