Tours

The organisers of the Graduate School are happy to assist in organising tours and activities in the Brisbane area for attendees. We've approached some local tour operators and compiled a list of several possibilities below. If you like the look of these, please contact Helen Grey and indicate which tour(s) you'd like to participate in, so that we can organise them in advance. Alternatively, if you are interested in some other kinds of activities and think these will be of interest to the other attendees, please let us know.

Tours organised by Bushranger Bikes

1. Brisbane Urban Cycling Adventure Cost: $30 (Includes bike, helmet and water bottle, but not coffee etc.)

A 2-3 hour Brisbane CBD discovery bike ride that includes the City Botanic Gardens, Goodwill Bridge, Southbank Parklands, Kangaroo Point cliffs, Story Bridge, Floating Boardwalk and New Farm Park. The ride also includes a coffee stop at one of Brisbane's trendy cafes. Tour needs at least 10 participants, with a maximum of 20 per group.

2. Brisbane City Abseil Cost: $60 (All necessary abseiling and safety equipment is provided.)

Abseil the exciting Kangaroo Point cliffs with a fantastic view of the city and the Brisbane River. These cliffs also lie directly across the river from the City Botanic Gardens and QUT Gardens Point Campus. This activity is fully supported by trained and experienced instructors and would run over a 2-3 hour period depending on group numbers. Tour needs at least 10 participants, with a maximum of 20 per group.

3. Off-road Cycle Tour and Koala Adventure Cost: $60 (Includes pickup and return to Brisbane city, bike, helmet and water bottle.)
Mountain Bike the fantastic trails of Daisy Hill Forest Park located on Brisbane's Southside. The trails are safe and well-graded, while providing a degree of challenge and adventure. This activity would suit a fit and active 'adventure seeker'. Prior cycling experience is desirable but not essential. Fixed

Besides providing excellent riding tracks, Daisy Hill Forest Park is a koala sanctuary and you will have the opportunity to see koalas in their natural environment. The ride itself is likely to take 3-4 hours, depending on group numbers, and is fully supported by trained and experienced instructors. Again, a minimum group size of 10 applies up to a maximum of 20.

More bike riding options are provided by Valet Cycle Hire & Tours (details on attached pdf file).
