Dr Jean Lasserre

 


Doctor Jean Lasserre

French National Centre for Scientific Research

Dr Lasserre graduated from "Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Informatique et Mathematiques Appliquees" in Grenoble France, and  then received his PhD (1978) and “Doctorat d'Etat" (1984) degrees both from Paul Sabatier University in  Toulouse France. He has been at LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse
since1980, where he is currently Directeur de Recherche. He is also a member of IMT,the Institute of Mathematics of Toulouse . He has written about 130 papers and co-authored the five books ``Markov Control Processes: Basic Optimality Criteria" (Springer 1996), ``Further Topics in Markov Control Processes" (Springer 1999), ``Markov Chains and Invariant Probabilities" (Birkhauser 2003), ``Linear & Integer Programming vs Linear Integration and Counting" (Springer 2009), and ``Moments, Positive Polynomials and Their Applications" (Imperial College Press, 2009). He is the 2009 recipient of the Lagrange Prize in Continuous optimization.

Professor Jerzy Filar

Jerzy Filar is a broadly trained applied mathematician with research interests spanning  a wide spectrum of both theoretical and applied topics in Operations Research, Optimisation, Game Theory, Applied Probability and Environmental Modelling.  After sixteen years of academic career in the US, he returned to Australia in 1992 where he is the Foundation Chair of  Mathematics and Statistics at the University of South Australia. He has supervised 17 PhD students who are working at various universities, industries  and research institutions in the US, China, Canada, Australia, Morocco and France.
