Overview

The AMSI 2011 Australian Graduate Theme Program in Mathematical Sciences is funded by the Australian Government
Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations through the Collaboration And Structural Reform Fund (CASR).

This year, two advanced courses are being offered on the theme of Global Optimization: theory and applications. These courses will run for two weeks from 26 June to 8 July 2011.

These courses are aimed at postgraduate students and researchers in mathematics and related disciplines and will be presented by distinguished researchers.

Moments, Positive Polynomials and Their Applications will be presented by Dr Jean Lasserre from The  French National Centre for Scientific Research.

Competitive Markov Decision Processes will be presented by Prof Jerzy Filar from the University of South Australia.

Participants are required to attend both courses.

In addition to these courses, participants will have the opportunity to present their own research during the Graduate Theme Program. Each participant will present a seminar of 20 minutes on a topic related to their research.
