Michael Jennings - Raybould Tutorial Fellow, UQ 2006

The Raybould Fellow is a Mathematics position at UQ that involves working on the transition from secondary to tertiary mathematics. It is offered every couple of years to a secondary school maths teacher.

On completion of a three year UQ degree focussing on maths and Japanese, Michael travelled to Japan where he taught English, Maths and Japanese for three years. He returned to Australia in 1997 and spent the next nine years teaching Maths and Japanese in primary and secondary schools in Brisbane.

Michael writes: "I love working at UQ! I taught two first year courses in Semester 1 at St Lucia and Ipswich campuses. The students were very keen and we had a lot of fun. I have also started my Master’s degree in Maths Education and am hoping to do some more lecturing in the future."
