of which was held in Grado (Italy), 15-19 September 1997. It covers (but
not limited) Boundary value problems, Ordinary Differential Equations
(ODEs) , Hamiltonians, Differential Algebraic Equations (DAEs), Parallel
methods, Application of ODEs, Numerical methods in manifolds,
Delay Differential
Equations (DDEs), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), Differential Equation
Softwares. |

Kingfisher
Bay Resort is a fully integrated resort on the west coast of
Fraser Island 40 minutes by catamaran from Urangan harbour at Hervey
Bay following a one hour flight from Brisbane.
World Heritage listed Fraser Island lies at the southern end of the
Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. It is the world's largest
sand island and a unique ecological environment with rich
Aboriginal heritage and colourful European history. Fraser has
extensive 120 km continuous ocean beach, magnificent coloured sand
cliffs, rocky headlands, scenic creeks, abundant wildlife,
numerous freshwater lakes and a diversity of plant communities,
ranging from low heathlands to tall rainforests.
Scattered across Fraser Island are many scenic lakes, each with a
unique character. Some are crystal clear (window lakes) while
others are tea-coloured (perched lakes).
Window lakes are formed where the ground surface drops below the
water table level. Lakes formed in this manner include McKenzie,
Birrabeen, Yankee Jack and Wabby. Perched lakes are created when
a saucer-shaped 'hard-pan' - composed of bonded mud, sandrock and peat
- forms in a depression between sand dunes. Water collects in
these depression and a lake is formed, perched well above the true
water table. Lake Boomanjin, site for the film 'Eliza Fraser', is the
world's largest perched lake table (200 ha) and Lake Bowarrady is
one of the highest (120 m above the sea level).
Fraser Island was known as Thoorgine to the Butchulla people who
lived in clans along the east coast. Archeological remains document
their culture and tradition. Clusters of shell remains have
accumulated in distinct shell mounds, testimony to the resources
and technology of the times. These sites are of historical
and cultural value.
Obtain more details on Fraser Island,
Australia and Queensland's
Sunshine Coast site.
