The methods discussed in this presentation are general linear methods characterised by the property of "inherent Runge-Kutta stability". This means that, although they are multi-value methods, they behavior in many ways like Runge-Kutta methods. The emphasis will be on preliminary experimental results for examples of these new methods. Even though they are most naturally used in a variable order setting, we will mainly confine our attention to a fixed order, variable stepsize implementation.
