Hi, Im Monique Breslin. I majored in Maths and Physics at UQ, and did honours in Applied Maths at UQ in 1994. My honours project with Tony Bracken was modelling city population distributions. From 1995-2000 I worked on my PhD with John Belward, modelling rainfall data using surface fitting techniques, and some other experimental techniques including fractals and wavelets. In 2000, I travelled for some months around Europe before settling for two years in the UK. There I worked in the IT department at the Vodafone world headquarters, where I forecast telephone call volumes, bill volumes, number of customer enquiries etc. I came back to Brisbane at the end of 2002 and have been working for John Holland, a construction and engineering company, in their development and investment division. I write financial models for potential new projects to assess their financial viability. Currently I spend all my spare time renovating my house.
