Abstract.
We consider the equation
with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions at the
boundary. Here
is a bounded domain in
and
is the principal eigenvalue of the corresponding
homogeneous equation (subject to the homogeneous Dirichlet
boundary conditions). The purpose of the study is the structure
of all right hand sides h for which above problem has at
least one solution. In particular, the following question is of
interest: "Is above problem solvable if h is
perpendicular (in
sense) to
the first eigenfunction associated with
?" Also some properties of the energy
functional are discussed.
