Information for Schools
The competition is open to students of secondary
schools in Queensland. Students enter through their schools.
The entry fee is only $1 per entry (to fund the fabulous prizes!)
and should be submitted at the same time as the competition papers are
sent to the QAMT for marking and judging.
Each school must nominate a competition supervisor when registering. Duties for the supervisor include the downloading, photocopying and safe-keeping of the question papers in the week preceding the competition. The school should collect the entry fees from competitors, undertake supervision of the candidates for two hours, and mail the worked scripts and entry fees to

University of Queensland
QLD 4072
In the Brisbane area, the competition should be restricted to Thursday or Friday (September 10th or 11th). Teachers may wish to run the competition in class time.
There are three competition papers, for Year 8, Years 9/10 and Years 11/12, and all are two hours long. The papers all consist of questions which require an answer, but working should also be shown. The problems do not usually require any greater knowledge than that possessed by good students but will need a certain amount of ingenuity and thought for their solution. Candidates should bring their own paper; approximately 10 sheets should be sufficient. Non-CAS calculators may be used.
The list of results will be lodged on the QAMT
competition website in late September. Prizes and
certificates will be awarded by the judges.
Results will be taken into consideration
in the choice of students to be offered places in the National
Mathematics Summer School in Canberra each January. This is
an important channel of selection for the Queensland students to be
invited to attend the Summer School.
Correspondence should be addressed
to the QAMT Office: qamt@uq.net.au, Phone/Fax 3365 6505.
