“Knots and Invariants”

Abstract:

In my talk I give a simple outline of knots along with some techniques to distinguish them. The goal of this talk will be to present the popular Jones polynomial. Knowledge of string will be assumed.

The setting is to be quite informal so we hope to have a good discussion. All interested are invited to attend. Any queries to Katrina: keh@maths.uq.edu.au.
