Mathematical Physics and Lie Theory 2004
The Department
of Mathematics at
The University of Queensland and
sponsors would like to
invite you to participate in a joint workshop and meeting to be
held
at Calypso Plaza, Coolangatta on the Gold Coast from the 30th
November to 4th December 2004.
AMSI Workshop: Foundations and Methodologies of
Mathematical Physics
30th November - 1st December 2004
This two day workshop will feature lectures and contributed talks on
topics that underpin current trends in mathematical physics. The
workshop aims to provide research training opportunities for graduate
students and early career researchers, but is open to anyone wishing to
participate. The program will cover a wide range of subjects including Lie
groups and algebras, quantum algebras, geometric methods, category theory,
quantum field theory, conformal field theory, integrable systems,
statistical mechanics and
quantum information theory.
Modern Developments in Lie Theory, Quantum Theory and Statistical
Mechanics
2nd December - 4th December 2004
This three day meeting aims to foster greater interaction between
Australian and overseas researchers working in the areas of Lie theory,
quantum theory and statistical mechanics. It will provide a forum for
researchers to communicate their latest developments in these active
areas, while also furnishing networking opportunities for future
collaborative research initiatives.
Both meetings will celebrate the achievements of Professor
Angas Hurst on the occasion of his 80th birthday, and the achievements
of his former student Professor Tony Bracken on the occasion of his 60th
birthday.
