Title: Ground-state entanglement of the BCS model
10am,
Thursday 6th April, 2006
Priestley
Blding, room 140
Abstract:
The study of entanglement has
become prominent not only for its role in quantum information theory, but also
for understanding quantum critical phenomena
in many-body systems. For the case of the BCS model in the thermodynamic
limit, there are no quantum phase transitions. However, for finite systems
there
are transitions between coupling regimes with distinct
ground-state characteristics. This aspect will be discussed in the context of
the ground-state entanglement.
The analysis is made feasible through the exact Bethe ansatz solution of the model.
This is joint work with Clare Dunning and Huan-Qiang
Zhou.
All interested are invited
to attend.
