Title: Measurement-based teleportation along quantum spin chains
10am, Wednesday 5th October, 2005
Priestley Blding, room 641
Abstract:
The job of calculating the entanglement content in a quantum many body system
is not very easy! Instead, we look at another property which is
intimatelyrelated to entanglement - the ability to do teleportation. We
derive a simple condition under which a spin-1/2 chain is able to be used
to perform unit fidelity teleportation. We find that ground states of
many model Hamiltonians are suitable for our teleportation protocol. We
consider some applications to finite temperatures, 2D lattices and higher
spin systems. We briefly suggest a way in which we can embed a virtual
spin-1/2 chains in physical spin-1 chains to greatly simplify the
protocol. We find that all of our results are underpinned by a highly non-local
order parameter.
All interested are invited to attend.
