Abstract

Some 15 years ago, following ideas of Witten, a mathematically precise version of index theory for quantum field theory was developed by Jaffe, Lesniewski and Osterwalder. This theory deals with infinite dimensional manifolds. Recently my collaborators and I developed an analogous theory for quantum mechanics where dimensionality of the underlying configuration space plays a key role. I will describe some aspects of this theory.

All interested are invited to attend.
