Abstract

Recombination of sequences or genes is an important evolutionary process. Its deterministic limit leads to a system of nonlinear ODEs which can be solved explicitly, leading to interesting results also in the theory of semigroups. We will also discuss a simple approach to the recombination of sequences of unequal length, which has applications in the distribution of gene repetitions.
